I am working on projects studying endothelial cells, especially their response to inflammatory and adrenergic stimuli, and mesenchymal stem cells, focusing on their differentiation to osteocytes and adipocytes. I collaborate between University of Iceland, University of Reykjavík and the University of Copenhagen.
Students
Guðný Ófeigsdóttir
PhD Student
My project is based on using anaerobic thermophilic bacteria producing chemicals like acetic acid, ethanol, butanol or 2,3-butanediol by using scrubbed geothermal gas from the powerplant on Hellisheiði.
Arnar Sigurðsson
MSc student
I am working on characterizing differences in the central carbon metabolism that happen during epithelial-to-mesenchymal transiton using western blotting, RT-qPCR, metabolomics and lipidomics.
Qiong Wang
PhD Studen
My project involves mapping the proteomic changes that occure during EMT within the cell model D492.
Sigurður Trausti Karvelsson
PhD student
I am working on making and updating constraint-based metabolic and signaling models describing EMT-related metabolic and signaling changes in breast epithelial cells. Additionally, I will validate the predictions made by these in silico models using in vitro methods.
Freyr Jóhannsson
PhD student
My project involves understanding the metabolism of platelet storage lesion using a combination of isotopic labelling mass spectrometry and proteomics methods.
Rósa Sólveig Sigurðardóttir
MSc Student
I am studying the formation of the endothelial glycocalyx using a systems biochemistry appraoch.
